Check it right now, free:

1. Go to the FDA's official recall page: fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts.
2. Search the name of your medication — brand name or generic, either works.
3. If it's recalled, the listing usually names the affected lot numbers — check them against the bottle or box you actually have. A recall often covers specific lots, not every unit of the drug.

The gap nobody warns you about

The FDA says it seeks publicity about a recall only when it believes the public needs to be alerted to a serious hazard. Not every recall is announced in the news or on its recalls page, though every recall the FDA monitors lands in its weekly Enforcement Report once it has been classified. You only see it if you keep looking.
